The New Zealand Society of Genealogists (NZSG) is a national organisation of genealogists promoting the common goal of researching family and social history. They provide research material, library services, online access to searchable resources and volunteer assistance to members at the Family Research Centre in Panmure, Auckland.

Local autonomous branches such as ours, and interest groups have the same goals, but provide their own income from membership subscriptions, raffles, book sales and occasional seminars.

Along with other NZSG Branches we are registered with the Charities Commission (Registration number: CC40486)

Belonging to the Hibiscus Coast Branch of the NZSG provides:

  • Monthly daytime meetings with knowledgeable guest speakers on topics of interest
  • A dedicated family history research centre at Whangaparaoa Library with computers to access resources and volunteers to assist you four mornings a week, 10am to noon. There are book and magazine resources available for borrowing and reference material
  • Monthly meetings of groups focusing on how to record your family history using computer programs
  • Workshops on various topics pertaining to Family History
  • A monthly newsletter containing the latest news, events and helpful items
